Ways of Giving

Many Meals on Wheels clients are unable to pay the full meal cost. Consequently, MOW must continually raise funds to pay for meals and the associated administrative expenses. Currently no support is received from any local, state or federal governmental agency. MOW depends solely on contributions from: foundations and local grants, endowments, donations from businesses, churches, civil groups and individuals, and the United Way of Rowan County. If you would like to give a donation, you can mail it to us, drop it off at our office, or you may use PayPal by clicking on the link below.

Endowment Fund

An endowment fund has been established to provide lasting support and to serve as a meaningful way for individuals, corporations or foundations to leave a lasting legacy. This fund generates income year after year, and with its growth, become vital to MOW by providing the security that funds are available in emergency financial crisis ONLY. This provides the endless opportunity that MOW will be able to continue our mission without consequences to our clients that are so much in need. They are a gift that keeps on giving!

Endowments may be given in the form of cash, stocks, bonds, annuities, life insurance (with MOW as designated beneficiary), retirement plan or property. They may be named after donors or in honor of a(n) individual(s), or in memory of someone special. Most endowments are tax deductible; however, consulting your tax advisor is recommended.

Volunteering

MOW volunteers represent a cross section of all the wonderful caring people in Rowan County. Volunteers spend one to two hours a day delivering meals and their goodwill to an average of ten clients per route Mondays through Friday from 11:00 – 12:30. Volunteers pick up the meals at one of three different meal sites (Salisbury, China Grove or Cleveland), deliver the meals to MOW clients and return the meal carriers to the restaurants. Clients are grouped into routes geographically to minimize travel and effort for the volunteers, many of whom are senior citizens, working business people on lunch breaks or individuals desiring to help those in need. Currently, over 1,000 volunteers throughout Rowan County deliver on the average of 205 meals daily throughout the county. Volunteers deliver at scheduled times each month (once a month, twice a month, weekly). We currently need volunteers for the following routes: Salisbury Area, South Rowan Area and West Rowan Area.

See Calendar for volunteer opputunities to deliver meals.
